Fluid intelligence is a human ability to reason and solve new problems independently of previously acquired knowledge and experience. It is considered to be one of the most important factors in learning, especially in creative learning about how to get new knowledge and resolve new problems. There is a considerable agreement that fluid intelligence has a strong hereditary component, developed by the nervous system, and is hypothesized to increase until adolescence and then slowly decline. Fluid intelligence can not be changed in adult. In recent years, however, a large number of studies have shown that the brain still have plasticity after the period of brain development in adults. In 2008, Brain Research Center in the University of Michigan showed that fluid intelligence can be improved with training on working memory. In the same year, some experts in related field demonstrated that improving fluid intelligence is feasible. They suggested that we can explore whether the mechanism making use of the same memory training can improve fluid intelligence when visual stimuli are changed. This paper based on the study of improving fluid intelligence with training on working memory, focuses on changing the form of visual stimulus presentation, proposing a new working memory training method, and demonstrating the effectiveness. Throughout this study, we mainly worked in the following areas:1. In this paper, we used Gabor visual target as the visual stimuli, which is commonly used as a material of perceptual learning, and proposed the working memory training with Gabor stimulus in the no noise situation. We focused in discussing whether fluid intelligence can be improved when changed the form of visual stimulus presentation. Considered perceptual learning with Gabor visual target plays a special function in treatment of amblyopia in adults, according to the mechanism of working memory and the principle of perceptual learning, we advanced working memory training with Gabor stimulus in the noise situation, which focused in discussing whether the visual impairment and fluid intelligence of adults with amblyopia can be improved.2. A system used to improve fluid intelligence with N-back working memory training system was designed and developed. This system realized two different working memory training tasks. It is worth noting that the working memory training for adults with amblyopia included the training process of perceptual learning. The training system adjusted the difficulty of the next module of training based on each case.3. Invited 20 adults with normal vision participated in the experiment of training working memory with Gabor stimulus in the no noise situation.3 adults with amblyopia participated in the experiment of training working memory with Gabor stimulus in the noise situation. The experimental analysis of the data concluded that the training methods we put forward were effective to improve fluid intelligence, and for adults with amblyopia also had a role in improving the visual impairment. The main contribution of this paper is that a new training pattern about improving fluid intelligence was given, and a new means of the cultivation of creativity for students was provided. We conducted a preliminary study on the combination of the visual improvement and intellectual education, and provided certain referential significance in the research about adults with amblyopia.
