| With the continuous development of society and the increasingly updating of technology, the values of Chinese popular cultural products also are constantly changing. As an important part of popular music and the carrier of content, lyrics are better to reflect the values of music than melody, rhythm. The past20years, people have paid attention to the development of popular music, especially the values’transformation. Currently, the studies about popular music have focused on the impact of adolescents and college students’values, psychology and behavior. The present research starts from the lyrics text to analyze the values and dimensions in music, and discuss the relationship between the values in music lyrics which college students prefer and their values.Study1investigates the values of popular music lyrics. Through surveying75lyrics text meaning, we formed1193sentences and analyzed on sentence level by conducting Consensual Qualitative Research (CQR). The results showed that: values include five areas (self, friendship, love, family and society) and six dimensions (social, importance, pleasure, beauty, love and acceptance). On this basis, the study established "The Evaluating Schedule of Popular Music Values".Based on the results from study1, study2compared the differences of Lyrics values in three decades, which is from1981to1990, from1991to2000, and from2001to2010, by evaluating300Chinese popular music. The study showed that:(1) self and love in music are more mentioned in three decades, while friendship, family and society are less involved.(2)1980s takes more scores on society than1990s and2000s, but there was no significant difference between1990s and2000s; To the scores of self, friendship, love and family, there was also no significant difference between three decades.(3) the value scores of self, family and society decreased in three decades, while the scores of friendship and love decreased after sightly increased.Study3analyzes college students’values and the popular music lyrics’values which they prefer. At the same time, the study explores the relationship between college students’values and lyrics’values. Correlation analysis results found that:the students’friendship and the lyrics’love has significant negative relationship(r=-0.177, p<0.05); the students’friendship and the lyrics’society has significant negative relationship (r=-0.199, p<0.05); the students’society and the lyrics’love has significant positive relationship(r=0.199,p<0.05); the students’love and the lyrics’self has edge significant relationship(r=0.149, p=0.067). |
