On Scheler’s Theory Of Material A Priori

Scheler’s Material a priori idea is the most prominent one in his theory. This idea is used as a starting point in his ethics, anthropology, sociology and other disciplines. Most of the scholars in the research on the whole ideological system of deal will also understand the material a priori idea as a first step. In this paper, the material a priori idea is explained systematically through the three parts.The first part mainly explains the theoretical source of material a priori ideas. Scheler’s most important philosophical writing is "Formalism in Ethics and Nor-Formal Ethics of Values". The core issue discussed in the writings is criticizing Kant’s ethics of formalism, and the congenital form is criticized firstly, thus Scheler puts forward the " Material a priori" connotation; at the same time, as the representative of phenomenology, Scheler is standing on phenomenological point to make a new understanding to the view of Husserl’s" material".The second part is to specify the mechanism of material a priori conception. First of all, through the analysis of "immediate intuitive" and "self-given" in the phenomenological point of view, writer carries out specific instructions on "material a priori" meaning; secondly, through comparing to the natural understanding, scientific knowledge understanding and essential knowledge understanding, writer makes specific interpretation to realization approach of material a priori; Scheler’s material a priori can be achieved as it is standing on the phenomenological perspective. So, the material a priori conception of the phenomenological reduction path is specified at the end of this paper.The third part mainly analyzes the purport of the material a priori idea. For Scheler, the most significant contribution to the phenomenology is to apply phenomenological approach to ethics and to put forward the material ethics. And the key to apply phenomenological approach to ethics is breaking the research category of consciousness. Scheler makes phenomenological analysis to the emotion activity and notes its intention related items - the value a priori and its order. So Scheler takes epistemology study of material a priori to study the value a priori in ethics.
