In today’s world, technology transfer has played a more and more important role, because it is beneficial to the formation of intellectual properties and the enhancement of systematic technology integration and internationalization. Recent years saw the closer cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, with tech transfer as a prominent part.The author of this thesis has done consecutive interpreting with text for 2nd China-ASEAN Technology Manager Training during internship in China-ASEAN Technology Transfer Center. This report is an analysis and summary of one of the interpreting practicesThis report consists of four parts. The first part is the basic information of the task; the second part is the description of the process of the task. The third part is the highlight of this thesis, case study. This part discusses the interpreting strategies and tactics the author used while doing interpreting. Based on the factor concerning the text (PowerPoint text), it mainly discusses the interpreting within the text, the application of principles such as faithfulness, sight translation, omission in accordance with the style of the text and the speaker’s style; and the interpreting outside the text, focusing on the handling of long sentences based on Anderson’s Cognitive Syllogism and professional knowledge based on active prediction and Seleskovitch’s Interpretive Theory. In the case study, the author also analyzes the insufficiencies in interpreting, such as misinterpretation, miss of interpretation, inauthentic expression, and occasional fillers. Then the author puts forward certain solutions for future practice based on the analysis. In the final fourth part, based on the knowledge requirement formula put forward by Zhong Weihe, the author comes to the conclusion that interpreters should enhance their abilities constantly from the following aspects, namely knowledge for language, encyclopedic knowledge and skills.
