Sustainable development has become a global issue, In recent years, countries’ governments, all around the world, have been trying to implement some policies for the improvement of sustainable development in economy, culture and so on. However, China, as the biggest developing country in the world, has made strategic goals of sustainable development since the 90s of last century. Chinese government also declares that walking on the path of sustainable development is an inevitable choice. Rethinking Development was published by the Centre for Bhutan Studies. Contents of this book consist of the speech and thesis delivered at the Second International Conference on Gross National Happiness in Antigonish, Canada from June 20th to 24th. The conference centered on the theme of "Rethinking Development:Methods of improving global life quality" and contents of politics, economy, culture, education and so on. It also provided constructive advice for global nations to issue political goal of sustainable development. Concentrating on the topic of sustainable development, the author is in charge of the translation of two texts respectively starts from economic and cultural aspects to offer suggestions on the forwardness of environmental-friendly economy and protection of traditional culture.This translation report consists of five parts. First part is a brief introduction of translation program which includes the background, requirements and significance of this translation program. Second one is the process of this report that is about three translation stages, respectively is pre-translation, mid-translation and post-translation ones. The third one comes with translation theory including the text typology theory and communicative translation. The fourth one is the case studies which illustrate the stylistics characteristics of the original text and the translation strategies that include the translation on two aspects of morphology and syntax. The last part focuses on the conclusion and reflection of this translation report. This article is a translation report and a general conclusion on the experience and lessons that the author has met in the process of translation. The author puts translation theories into translation practice and gives some analysis and summary on specific cases, which is based on the translated text. This report mainly concentrates on the discussion of hard and important points that may happen during the process of English-Chinese translation such as how to make the translated text not only obey the rule of "faithfulness" to the original text, but also acceptable to target readers and how to deal with the original text from the aspects of morphology and syntax and so forth on.
