An Escort Consecutive Interpreting Practice Report On 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition Outdoor Gardens Judging

The global economic development is heading its way to globalization and internationalization. In accordance, international exchanges and communication are on the rise. The internationalization and modernization of culture industry have accelerated the development and strides of related industries. Large-scale international expositions are also in urgent need of language workers, in particular, master of English. In the practice report, the author focuses on the interpreting practice during 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition and on the analysis of difficulty in the course of interpreting as well as corresponding solutions to them.This report contains the following four chapters. The first chapter makes a concise introduction of the consignor, the background as well as prospective objectives of interpreting. It also specifies the properties and features of the interpreting content and sets the tone of the objectives and significance of the interpreting practice. In the second chapter, the author divides the whole task into three procedures: the preparatory step before interpreting, the interpreting in progress and the assessment after interpreting. As for the preparation part, the author places emphasis on the preparations and detail elaborations, including the division of the task, the preparation of field knowledge, background information of interpreting clients, corpus, the formulation of glossary, the adoption of parallel texts and timely plans for on-site emergencies. The third chapter turns out the core part of this practice report where comprehensive and detailed analyses of the practical problems on judging interpreting are undertaken. The problems of language conversion, contextual conversion, interdisciplinary phenomenon and cultural differences have been studied through examples. Based on the interpretive Theory, the theory of translational action and Skopos Theory, breakthroughs and interpretation strategies are summarized according to practical experiences. In Chapter Four, the main content is the generalization of the interpreting practice, the induction of some interpreting tips and requirements, the domination of the interpreting task rhythm and occupational qualifications of interpreters. Meanwhile, the fourth part points out the role of theoretical instructions and relates the future career prospects and gained knowledge after the interpreting practice.
