As A Cultural Performance Of Paper Maker Living Skills

In Zeya area of Wenzhou, the traditional paper-making craft, as a main living way of human,had played an important role in history, which even regarded as an advanced production mode of economic growth. However, with the time of industrialization coming, the traditional manual paper-making skills’ existing space is faced with severe challenges now. Based on the above background,this dissertation starting from the perspective of cultural performance related issues by means of field survey,obtains first-hand data, preliminary to study as a cultural performance of paper Living skills.The whole dissertation consists of five parts.Part Ⅰ is an introduction. It first introduces the origin and significan ce of the chosen topic of this paper, the review of research, definition of related concepts and research methods.Part Ⅱ presents the history outlook and living environment of Zeya traditional manual paper-making through analyzing materials from literat ure and fieldwork, then points out the importance of the traditional papermaking craft in local people’s life, which is an important way of survival and emotional support for generations.Part Ⅲ examines the dilemma and outlet of Zeya traditional paper-m aking craft from a multidimensional perspective of folklore, along with th e rise of modern mechanical paper, traditional manual paper-making tech nique as a way of survival is not the mainstream any more. However, the dilemma which traditional paper-making faces in traditional craft has become a new power from the perspective of the protection of intangible culture heritage. In the context of the protection of intangible culture herit age, the local government efforts to built the Zeya paper hilly culture area, Zeya traditional paper-making craft has become a cultural performance a nd a way of conservation, then we discover that the inheritance of traditio nal paper-making still do not get a good solution through the analysis of c ultural performance.Part Ⅳ mainly seeks the reconstruction of traditional value, and argu es that manual skills reflect the value of life experience in modern and po st modern social, then attempt to put forward an idea to protect the Zeya traditional manual paper-making—tourism of survival, hoping to solve the problem of the inheritance of the traditional manual paper-making.Part Ⅴ makes a conclusion which summarizes contents and main viewpoint of the dissertation, and prospects the possible path of future research.
