| After the Big Bang of Latin American literature in the 1960s, a "New World of literature" show its appearance to the world, which attracts the keen attention from the World literary arena with its fantasy genre styles and divergent works with rich local culture. Latin American literature is also a favorite for the Chinese readers and is well appreciated by the theorists. It has many researchers and has produced fruitful results. My essay, based on sorting the existing research data, selects a unique writing angle-house imagery to analyse the cultural psychology. The paper mainly relies on works including Naipaul’s "A House for MR Biswas," Llosa’s "The Green House" and Marquez’s "One Hundred Years of Solitude", trying to explore the deep meanings loaded on imageries, including Latin American history, culture, economy, customs and habits, and therefore highlighting the sentimental value of "house" for the Diaspora communities who lived in the specific and mixed Latin America cultural situation. The novel "A House for MR Biswas"is about a small potato of Mr. Biswas’s life-long pursuit of the house, reflecting his pursuit of personality independent, longing for his own home and pursuit the self-power. The novel "The Green House" mainly describes Mr. Anselmo’s life-long pursuit of "green house", reflecting his spiritual aspirations and desire of achieving his personal values, but the conflicts between local culture and foreign culture impacts the "green house" obviously. Consequently, Mr. Anselmo, as a victim of the clash between the two cultures, was destroyed together with his "green house" finally. "One Hundred Years of Solitude" mainly describes the builders of the Macondo, members of the Boone Tia family, built one after another invisible house to separated themselves from the outside world and confined their hearts, living for one hundred years in stubbornliness and loneliness, eventually disappear from the earth. In my opinion, house image has such several meanings first represents a self-construction of value, to the individual, the house is a sign of home, showing their self-values and self-power, for the family and the nation, house is the material carrier of the family, the self-construction of the value of family and ethnic culture and self-power. Secondly, the house image represents a kind of identity, is not only a family, and is the national culture. The house is not only the individual image, spiritual pursuit of material, also can be the physical manifestation of a family, the spirit of a people. When the colonists gradually withdraw from the land of Latin America, the strong cultural influence still deeply eroded the local culture. Thus, many Latin Americans with lofty ideals try to create a local style by reconstructing the literary model, so as to maintain its uniqueness. The deep interpretation of house imagery, in terms of the individual, reflects the spirit aspirations, career goals, dreams and loneliness of the individuals; in terms of nationality and culture, it reflects the Latin American people’s desire for the independence of national culture. |
