| At the end of the 19 th century, European culture was fighting against traditions under the impact of political revolution and industrial development. In the early 20 th century, a wave of opposing naturalism was developing dramatically, which was the most adventurous and innovation period that ever existed in Western art history. During this time, plenty of new concept and theories appeared in, drawing architecture, sculpture, literature, music, philosophy and science, whose influence still existed today. There are three artists who are accomplished at that time--Kay Nielsen, Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac. They are regarded as three giants in European fairytale.They have plenty of works, which are innovative vivid foreseeing, impressive and with high value of human and art. There three artists had a try in many areas, including fairy tales historical stories and myth. Their styles are vivid, rich and changeable. They changed abstract fairy tales into attractive, vital image, which make people immerse in the fairy tales.The writer will analyze the artistic feature and design methods of the “three giantsâ€, through the works of three artists involving cultural background nowadays. The first chapter is about the significance of the research problem and the solutions. The second chapter is to analyze the culture background and the growing experience of the artists. The third is to focus on their artistic feature and the underling associations of those works. The last chapter is to summarize the artistic features of three artists and their designing methods that worth learning. |
