Effects Of Competence Feedback Interwention On Judgment Of Learning

Previous research on feedback intervention mainly concentrated in the field of performance,less involved in the study of metacognitive process,and the related study already have are mostly in the condition of the immediate judgment of learning.For that,this study choose the competence feedback which has more explicit effect on metacognitive monitoring,in order to examine the effect of general positive feedback and general negative feedback on immediate JOL or delayed JOL.And for the special type of the general feedback,the learner needs to learning the same project at least two rounds,so another important concept called the UWP effect come.According to most previous studies have shown that UWP effect is the phenomenon of a universal and stable, and does not easily affected by feedback intervention.But there are also studies show that UWP effect only appear in immediate JOL,though it can appear in delayed JOL the effect must be significantly weakened.So this study will examine under the condition of delayed JOL whether the UWP effect will occur,and will the feedback intervention can affect it.This study includes two experiments, are designed for single factor between the participants.The independent variables is the type of feedback intervention^ has three levels:positive feedback、negative feedback and no feedback group.The dependent variables are JOL、recall and absolute accuracy.The immediate JOL results show:(1)The type of the feedback intervention will affect the JOL,and the general negative feedback will significantly inhibit the JOL enhancement.(2)The type of the feedback intervention will not affect the recall.(3)The UWP effect appeared,but it also affected by the impact of the general positive feedback.The delayed JOL results show:(1)Feedback intervention did not affect the JOL.(2)Feedback intervention did not affect the recall.(3)The UWP effect did not appear.According to the research results:Competence feedback intervention can only affect the immediate JOL,and the negative value will cause a greater impact.For the UWP effect,it can be only appear in immediate JOL,and will be affected by the positive value intervention,unlike the widespread and stable the previous studies have shown.
