"Beauty of Concealment" is an aesthetic point of view put forward by the Japanese writer Junichiro Tanizaki in "Lob des Schattens", whose essence is an aesthetic theory of Chinese Zen aesthetics after Japanization. At present, there is not one complete book that systematically does a scientific research and combing at concealment aesthetics, although it is an important part of traditional Japanese culture and aesthetics, which explains Japanese national culture from a unique perspective and ideology, having far-reaching significance for Japan’s poetry, literature, painting, music, design, landscape, architecture, and other various artistic and cultural fields, as well as daily life, behaviors, aesthetic taste, and national pursuing etc. Meanwhile, Concealment aesthetics concept also deeply affects Japanese traditional crafts, especially lacquer development.Traditional craft Lacquer comes from China, dating back more than seven thousand years of history, keeps pace with ceramics and ink, which are all our treasures. With the age development, technological innovation and people’s aesthetic demands changes, traditional lacquer with a history of thousands of years is in the process of weakness toward revitalization. With the protection of the heritage and traditional crafts, how to innovate the traditional art forms of lacquer, and ultimately make it return to the stage of people’s real life, have become today’s critical issues to be solved by lacquer workers. On this issue, Japan has walked in front of us. Japan, as a developed capitalist country, is implementing the modern innovation and also keeps the national colors, pays attention to traditional culture, and strives to protect the traditional culture and development in the meantime, winning its own place on the world stage of lacquer. Thus, although Japanese lacquer origins from China, but it is not just copying, but integrates their national cultural heritage to lacquer creations. Under the construction of aesthetic theories such as "Beauty of Concealment", Japan has created unique aesthetic styles of lacquer, highly prized and recognized by home and abroad. In this regard, we can refer to the Japanese development model to improve our development path of lacquer. Therefore, this paper starts from the Japanese classic concealment aesthetic point of view, takes it as a bridge for contemporary Japanese and Chinese lacquer art creation, in order to better integrate the concept, shape, color, environment, and the performance etc. of lacquer works, and better discover the charm of contemporary lacquer works to make it shine around the world.
