Research Of The Prefaces And Postscripts In Early And Prosperous Tang Dynasty’s Literati Collected Worksrare Book From The National Library Of China

The research of literary in Tang dynasty are fruitful. However, the research of prefaces and postscripts for “Tang Dynasty literati collected works” are rare. In my opinion, the research could be separated into collating and researching the “Tang Dynasty literati collected works”. My research will be based on the collating the “prefaces and postscripts in early and prosperous Tang Dynasty’s literati works Rare Book from the National Library of China” and more focusing on research whereby analysis the prefaces and postscripts’ literary values. Tang Dynasty collected works’ prefaces and postscripts are still lack of a comprehensive collation, prefaces and postscripts of “Early and prosperous Tang Dynasty literati collected works” either. In the first chapter of the research, I will explain the method and thought of collation about “prefaces and postscripts in early and prosperous Tang Dynasty’s literati works Rare Book from the National Library of China”. The chapter two is the literature value of “prefaces and postscripts in early and prosperous of Tang Dynasty literati collected works”. It can be spilt into three parts. The first part is the value of the literary style for the prefaces and postscripts. As a literature style, the prefaces and postscripts in the collected works have its own literature value. It has a lofty value for aesthetic and appreciation. The prefaces and postscripts in each dynasty all have their characteristics. We could get a clue which is the evolution of style. The second part is the value of history of literary criticism for the prefaces and postscripts. There are two key points in it. First, the prefaces and postscript contain the critic to the literati and works. This will make up the empty of literary criticism in the history. Second, some of prefaces and postscripts reflected the view of literary criticism in that dynasty. The third part of value is that the history of literary value for the prefaces and postscripts. We could find some different views of literary from different literati. Also, the amount of prefaces and postscripts will also reflect the level of people spread and accept. The chapter three is the documentary value of “prefaces and postscripts in early and prosperous of Tang Dynasty literati collected works”. The collected work’s prefaces and postscripts have a big literature value on content, edition, collating, discern and emendation. Prefaces and postscripts always record the changes from different editions and discern the truth between different editions. The prefaces and postscripts also have description for how to discern the truth and the comparison between different editions. In addition, collectors also have record the edited process, analysis the collating, discern etc. In this chapter, the documentary value will be discussed through several cases.
