A Research Report On The Translation Of Food Safety And Standards (Packaging And Labelling) Regulation

Legal texts are highly specialized texts with their own characteristics in words and structures. Therefore, to translate them requires a translator to be equipped with not only the skill of English-Chinese translation but also the related knowledge in the area of law. This report, based on Food Safety and Standards Regulation:explores the translation strategies and methods of law texts through process description, example analysis, theoretical argumentation and project summary.The report consists of five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction to this translation project, including the background, significance and purpose. The second chapter focuses on the content of the translation project, requirements from the client and features of the source text. The third chapter describes translation process, including preparation before translation, operation during translation and proof-reading after translation. The forth chapter is the case analysis, (centering on words and sentences) aiming to explore proper translation strategies and methods. The last chapter is the summary of the report.
