This is a report on English-Chinese and Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting by the writer for the Round Table Discussion on Arts and Culture of 2015 South Australia-Shandong Cooperation and Development Forum. By studying typical cases, the report analyzes various problems by sorts that may emerge in the process of simultaneous interpreting in a hope to come up with relative strategies and solutions.The part “Task Description” mainly deals with the “Pre-interpreting Preparations” made by the writer, which is further divided into three phases namely, long-term preparations, short-term preparations and temporary preparations.In “Theoretical Guidance and Case Study”, the report first describes the translating theories and relevant strategies before making further analysis on the difficulties arising from interpreting task based upon the selection of a series of typical interpreting cases regarding culture and arts.Through task description and case study, the report has reached the following conclusions: 1. The pre-interpreting work is very important and is closely related to the quality of interpreting. 2. Use simultaneous skills in a flexible way with the aim of deverbalization. 3 A good mental quality is the prerequisite for simultaneous interpreting. The interpreter should learn to adjust himself/herself.
