A Comparative Research On The Ethical Consciousness In Faulkner And Dazai Osamu’s Novels

No matter in the aspect of geographical position on national characteristic. America and Japan are totally different form each other. But the great man, who has similar literature characteristic, are always born in the particular social history.Great changes have taken place in the first half of 20th century, two world wars and explosive development of modern industry destroyed the old world order, two peoples were live under the oppressive of material force and social dissident.Either William Faulkner in America or Dazai Osamu in Japan. they used real record to show us the truth that moral principles are losing under the trendency of social changes. And on family ethical, growth ethical,female ethical and other typical ethical subjects has carried on the deep analysis.There are many points can be compared between the two authors. This thesis based on ethical literary criticism, uses the method of paraller study. They aspect are concerned in this thesis,that are family ethics,growth ethics and female ethics, to observe and study various aspects of ethical form rooted in Faulkner and Dazai Osamu’s own regional culture and national belief. Through comparing the two author’s arts, exploring the similarities and differences of ethical and moral appeals can make us know more about Easter and Western culture, rethink the relationships of man to nature,man to man,man and themselves,seek for solution to the lack of morality,so that harmonious social ethics consciousness, like social ethics,ecological ethics,family ethics, family ethics, growth ethics, etc,can be built.
