Issac Bashevis Singer is the famous American Jewish writer in the twentieth century. Shosha is an excellent work that is written in first-person narration. The dissertation attempts to interpret Shosha from the perspective of the initiation story. It demonstrates that Shosha is a typical initiation story from the perspective of characters,structure and themes. It reveals the Jewish young people’ s confusion in initiation and explores how Aaron gets mature. The dissertation aims at pointing out that the Jewish young people should return to the Jewish tradition to understand their identity. And it also appeals to the young people to stick to their own faith and follow the traditional virtues. At last, the initiation analysis provides a new perspective for the future study of Singer and Shosha. |
