| Taiwan’s cinema, society and politics for a long time have been closely related so that cinema of Taiwan can be considered as a guidebook, leading us to know about Taiwan. Japan, as then-colonial empire, not only deeply influenced Taiwan in aspects of history, politics and culture, but also became an inevitable keyword in discussions of Cross-Strait Relations. Studying Japanese images in different eras of cinema of Taiwan will help us to have more comprehensive understanding of Taiwan’s history and public culture, and therefore to enhance approaches to Cross-Strait Exchange. Content:Chapter 1- Within the context of the “KOMINKA†movement(AKA:Japanization) in the era of Japan colonised Taiwan, studying the traits of Japanese images in Taiwan’s Japanese produced films(1895-1945).Chapter 2- Within the context of early period of Taiwan’s retrocession and Kuomintang’s culture policy, analysing the traits of Japanese images in Taiwan’s motion pictures which against the invasion from Imperial Japan(1945-1965).Chapter 3- Within the context of the rise of Taiwan native culture and economic recovery, exploring the rise of Taiwanese images and weakening of Japanese images in cinema of Taiwan.(1965-1972).Chapter 4- Within the context of ‘Joint Communiqué, 1972’ and Taiwan’s diplomatic setbacks, discussing the traits of Japanese images in cinema of Taiwan(1972-1983).Chapter 5- With the context of the the lifting of Martial Law and Taiwanese New Wave Cinema, studying re-depicting of Japanese in Taiwan(1983-2000).Chapter 6- With the context of globalisation in 21 st century and recent Taiwan’s political status, researching the reasons of Japanese images being diverse in cinema of Taiwan(2000 onwards). |
