A Study On Zero Anaphors In Object Position In Modern Mandarin Chinese

Zero anaphor is one of difficult issues in computer information processing. The study on zero anaphors in the field of linguistics is helpful to this problem. Most studies are conducted on the zero forms in the topic or subject position. Researchers from formal syntax, cognitive linguistics, pragmatics and discourse grammar have taken this issue into consideration and made some conclusions.Great achievements have been gained, while little attention is paid to the zero forms in object position. The antecedents of the zero forms in object position can be located in different grammatical positions. Zero forms will arise in certain syntactic environments. The comprehension of the zero forms is also regular.Six parts are included in this article.In chapter one we explain the object and the value of this study. The source of the corpus and the symbols used throughout the text are also involved in this chapter.In chapter two we will straighten out, comment and summarize the relevant literature. For the zero form in object position is just a sub problem, the review is not confined to the zero form in object position but has to encompass zero forms in different syntactic positions especially in subject and topic.In chapter three we classify according to the syntactic positions of the antecedents. The antecedents can occupy grammatical positions like subject, object, topic, attribute, concurrent and parenthesis.In chapter four we try to classify according to the syntactic environments of the zero forms in object position. We can find zero forms in structure of successive predicate, relational structure, similar predicate structure, ba construction and complement structure.In chapter five we try our best to illustrate the comprehension of the zero forms in object position.In chapter six we mention the conclusion we made and the deficiencies of this study.
