| This paper describes the life, historical background, and representative works of Michel Fokine and George Balanchine, two grand masters in the world’s ballet history, and compares their dance aesthetics, creative ideas, as well as their proactive promoti on of ballet arts in China, aiming to explore the possibility of the sinicization of ballet as well as the development orientation of ballet in China."Modern ballet" representing by Michelle Fokine and "new classical ballet" representing by George Balanchine ap peared successively, which was a hit on classical ballet ideas. They had good qualities of treating everything in the light of development and looked for balance between tra dition and modern times.Michel Fokine and George Balanchine were two famous Russian ballet choreographer and reformer in the early 20th century. They focused on the ballet creation and innovation and each of them leaded this art to a different new orientation-modern ballet and neoclassical ballet, their development made a positive and profound impact to ballet.This thesis will discuss impact of these two masters-Michel Fokine and George Ba I anch i ne who p I ayed a major ro I e on the reform and deve I opment of creative ideas of ballet from nationality, age and other aspects. They affected the format i on of a new modern aesthet i c concept of the West modern art schools give understanding and awareness, both of them were always with fresh vision to develop and measure the world, to find a balance between the traditional and the modern development of succession. This thesis also compares the aesthetic ideas and innovations ways of Fokine and Balanchine, to grasp the fundamental problem of creation of ballet and keeping pace with the era to create aesthetic needs of the times works for Chinese people.
