Nowadays, Mc Ewan is one of the most active English writers in the literary world. There are a large number of sensitive contents of death, sex and incest exist in his works, so he has a nickname "Ian Macabret". Meanwhile, many positive factors are also in his works. Then, positive and negative factors of "the unity and opposite" become a remarkable feature of Mc Intosh novels. The negative phenomena illustrated by the author is just a way of digging darkness of human, and giving beneficial enlightenment to modern people. To study Mc Ewan’s works from the perspective of narrative, we can found the characters of unity and opposites of his subjective and objective thoughts, which involves the conversion and transformation of narrative perspective. In the first person and third person narration, the narrative voice and vision separated, and this makes a contradiction between “objective” narrations and “subjective” interpretation to the narrator. Seeing the world from the perspective of character is a "fictitious world" which fit the characters’ psychology; but the "real world" understood by the readers denied the "fictitious world". Then, the dislocated unity of contradiction is born. The setting of constructions of characters’ includes kinship, friendship and love. The author depicts the indifference of kinship, the hypocrisy of friendship and the lost of love in his works, so more intrinsic implications in basic human relationships appeared. Finally, the using of language has the contradictive phenomenon of dissociation and the division of the "signifier" and the "signified" in his text, therefore, the works has the effects of "litotes" and "irony", which presents the sadness of character, selfishness and darkness of humanity. The domestic study about Mc Ewan is restricted from ethical narrative, unreliable narration and character analysis. The study on his concrete text is too single and lack of comprehensive and macro characteristics analysis. Therefore, from the perspectives of "the unity and opposites", we can dig more modern enlightenments from two aspects of macro and micro and broad the interpretation space of his novels, which will be more comprehensive and systematical.
