The Revival And Inheritance Of Traditional Flower Art In Shanghai Area

The traditional flower arrangement art is dating from people’s daily life before the Qin period.During Han Dynasty,it begans to sprout.And during Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty,it stepped in the preliminary stage of development, and had been introduced to Japan.During Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty,the traditional flower arrangement art gradually became prosperous and popular. During the Ming and Qing Dynasty, the development of traditional flower art reached the peak.At the end of Qing Dynasty, along with the social change, the traditional flower art was gradually fading.In the Shanghai area, people remain the traditional custom of arranging flowers in their daily life and traditional festivals. Since the Qing dynasty, various kinds of large flower show had been constantly hold by the civil society organizations and the official organizations like the Chrysanthemum Exhibition,which is the most influential exhibition until now. In the 1980s, Shanghai flower arranging flower art association was founded, and began to revive Chinese traditional flower arrangement art.A flower arranging flower art school had been established for spreading and improving the traditional flower arrangement art.The Flower Art association also established five affiliated agencies, for introducing and popularizing flower arranging activities in districts and counties like flower exhibitions, competitions and teaching activity. In all the flower arranging association and the flower art masters play an important role in inheriting the traditional flower art.
