On The Expression Of Abstract Pattern Of Manifestation In Block Prints

Printmaking is a personalized and diversified painting category. Its painting language is solemn and steady; its expression form is concise and elegant. The spiritual expression of printmakers consistently forms a unique cultural system with social ideas.In the development course of Western art, printmaking has an important academic and historical position. Evolving from printmaking copy to self-creation of artists,printmaking has developed multiple techniques and its content has been greatly enriched. To integrate the abstract form into the printmaking language can show the spiritual aspect and cultural cultivation of the creator. This paper aims at exploring how creators transform their subjective logical thinking and emotions into abstract symbols and integrate them into the print-making language so as to go beyond the material medium and enter the artistic category, and revealing inspirations of abstract elements on printmaking creation. Based on collection of a large number of literatures and materials, the author analyzes and explains the abstract form. As to the content expressed by the traditional printmaking, the correlation between the abstract elements and the printmaking language is studied, especially in terms of the expression of abstract elements in printmaking and the influence of abstract expression forms on the modern printmaking creation.This paper mainly consists of five parts. Part 1 is an overview of printmaking,expression forms and abstract aesthetic characteristics of printmaking. Part 2 is an in-depth analysis of construction characteristics of abstract elements. Part 3 is an exposition on the correlation between expression language of printmaking and abstract symbols, and the combination between every abstract element and printmaking language. This paper explores the internal spirit of the expression form from the essence of painting. Part 4 focuses on discussing the influence of the expression form of the modern printmaking on the traditional printmaking, and explaining the difference between the two and the value of modern materials to printmaking. Part 5 talks aboutthe effect of the abstract expression form on the future printmaking development and its inspirations for the future printmaking creation and development. The author thinks that to absorb the essence of printmaking creation of previous masters can provide inspirations on future creation. The modern printmaking creators should also keep on improving their professional and artistic qualities so as to transform the essence into their unique painting lang.
