Objective:To understand the current conditions of mental health for the family who have lost their only child in Hangzhou; The solutions for the sleeping issue of citizens who have lost their only child was established and estimated for the future research.Method:There are two parts in this paper:The first part is the a combination of questionnaires and interview, the questionnaire is mainly based on three sections which are general demography problems, SCL-90, SRSS. The second part research of psychological intervention strategy is adopted to the form of group counseling to take special care of those citizens who have lost their only child sleep problems. The skills included listening,implanting positive attitude, supportive mental treatments, cognitive psychological treatments, behavioral treatments, and grief counseling, and so on.Innovative achievements:1. A detailed report of basic condition and current mental health for the families who have lost their only child in Hangzhou.2.The presentation of group psychological counseling strategies for the problems of losing sleep.Conclusion:1.The ages of most parents in the family who have lost their only child are distributed among 50 to 70 years old, the mental condition was worse than general conditions remarkably. Especially, it is obvious in physical、depression、anxiety, terror and social relationships.2. The parents received a medium level of social supports. 3. There is a notable relationship between the mental condition of parents and social supports.4. For the most common problems,losing sleep, among the parents, the group psychological counseling by our team showed a significant effect on parents after practicing on them. And this can be improved and popularized.5. In the future research, the basic information of parents who have lost their only:child, mental problems should be taken care more detailed and serious of.
