As one of these special people, Wei Zongwu was not that significant. However, Wei was typical among the representative poets who advocated ancient and Tang poetry and persisted on the faith of "Not Serving Yuan Dynasty". Meanwhile, born in Wei Jing aristocratic families and as the descendants of Hua Ting Wei’s Families, Wei Zongwu was also dedicated to fulfilling ancestors’ aspiration and bringing up new talented generation. This thesis mainly studied Wei Zongwu and his collections of Autumn Sound. Besides the brief introduction for the process of constructing the collection and the relative versions, the thesis conducted the study in detail based on three aspects--Wei’s social activities, academic views, and literature views--associated with his corresponding poems. When combing Wei’s life experience, due to little and rough relevant records, in order to restore his true life experience, Wei’s major life events were analyzed based on the inference and statements of his poems according to the principle of Reflection of Life. The analysis of Wei’s life experience established the foundation for discussions in later chapters. Regarding the study of Wei’s academic views, his academic thoughts were summarized by researching The Collection of Autumn Sound using text study and background binding methods. The text analysis approach was applied on The Collection of Autumn Sound to interpret Wei’s literature views and his poetry orientation.Chapter 1 introduced The Collection of Autumn Sound from the construction of the collection and the versions briefly.Zongwu’s social activities and poems were discussed in Chapter 2. His life experience was separated into four parts:first, the verification of Wei’s birth and death year was presented. Wei died in Year 1288, thus he should be born between year 1198 and 1208. The second part included the analysis of his life experience and poems, investigating the reasons he quitted the official position and refused to serve Yuan Dynasty, and the influence brought from his ancestry and Hua Ting literature. The third part mainly analyzed the mutual mapping and impact between his life as adherents of Song Dynasty, when he showed the intent of "Confucianist’s Commiseration" and "The Man with Petty Reclusion", and his poetry creation. The last part studied Wei’s friends and the corresponding poems, including the Hua Ting Zhen Shuai Community, his friendship with Buddhists and Taoists, and relevant poems. In Chapter 3, Wei’s academic thoughts included both Neo-Confucianism and Buddhism and Taoism. These thoughts were analyzed together with the poetry and verse.Chapter 4 mainly focused on discussing his literary views and poetic style.
