Translation policy, as an important element to standardize and embody the social meaning of translation activities, is an important component of translation study. Throughout the translation history, many translation policies and translation activities are manipulated by power, which have left clear signs on translation processes and products. Therefore, analyzing relationships between translation and power is vital for people to understand and explain such translation policies and phenomena.This thesis takes the Yuan Dynasty that is the first unified dynasty established by the minority as historical background of the translation study, since the relatively open-door policy, comparatively active diplomacy and foreign trade activities, frequent interpreting activities and some other elements have all constituted the special historical background of interpreting activities in the Yuan Dynasty; and takes translation policies of the royal court interpretation in the Yuan Dynasty as studying objects to analyze the effect of the relationships between interpretation and power on translation policies. Specifically, the thesis is composed of following parts:firstly, the author elaborates the detailed demonstration of translation policies in each links of the royal court interpretation in the Yuan Dynasty; secondly, the author analyzes power relationships and elements that influencing the constitutions of the translation policies of interpretation; thirdly, the author takes language skills in a typical vernacular inscription of the Yuan Dynasty as examples to show and understand more about the manipulation of power; then, the author makes discussions and analyses of the special translating phenomenon by some typical events.Through analysis, the author makes conclusions as follows:firstly, as a translation phenomenon, formation and implementation of the translation policies are influenced by power; secondly, translation policies of the Yuan Dynasty have some unique characteristics which are absolutely different from any other time, but not so perfect; thirdly, the influences of power on translation policies of the royal court interpretation of the Yuan Dynasty have resulted in some translation phenomena that are beside the point.
