International communication becomes more and more frequent and significant in the 21 st century, and so is the case with interlingual translation. While a large number of Chinese and foreign classical works are being spread around the world, a considerable books and text materials with instructive guidance are being published and brought into China. Translators, meanwhile, are expected to accomplish their work in high quality, besides efficiency. However,we should acknowledge that the work of a translator not only includes translating source texts into target language, but also comprises editing and revising the target texts. Editing means error-correction and text-improvement so as to make the texts more comprehensible to the target readers and more applicable to the specific purposes. And revising, playing almost the same role as editing, means more often the adaptation and improvement on draft texts and translation so as to make the target texts more suitable for publishing. In this report, I chose Brain Mossop’s book — Editing and Revising for Translators as the source text, and based on my own translating practice working on this book, I analyzed and commented on some translation examples in the light of Functional Equivalence. Editing and Revising for Translators really provides instructive information and methods as well as theories to people who are fond of editing and revising. In this report, works of an editor and a reviser as well as the importance of the writing are introduced.
