In the field of linguistics, the study of news headlines focuses on the field of paper media, therefore online news title has not been given due attention. However, the network news headlines have their own characteristics, through whose study we may observe media language from a more microcosmic and modern perspective. Based on the analysis of headlines of the same news source in the three sites by methods of Data statistics and case analysis, characteristics of the three sites will be summarized. The thesis includes the following chapters:In chapter one, after combing the research status of the current stage, the background of the research, of its purpose and significance, scope and methods will be introduced with the explanation of its corpus source.In chapter two, with careful observation from the perspective of narratology, characteristics of the three sites will be revealed through the combination of discussions on the subtle differences of events indexing of the three sites and the systematic study through methods of data statics and case analysis.In chapter three, by means of the comparison among lexical elements and syntactical structures of headlines of the same news source of Sohu, Netease and Sina, similarities and differences of the three’s news headlines on the grammatical unit and the frequency of the use of various types of grammatical unit will be explored.In chapter four, although on the whole the three sites’ news headlines have pragmatic expression functions in common, the differences lie in the degree of use. Discussions will be developed from three perspectives:the principle of economy, rhetorical devices and the pragmatic focus.with both commonalities and individualities of their news headlines with the same news source.
