Research On The ZaWen Of WenXinDiaoLong

"ZaWen", from the perspective of "miscellaneous", ZaWen is a variety of the gathering of the genre style, which has not yet formed or difficult to classify. The ZaWen is not traditional, but the outside branches of the orthodox article. ZaWen has different names over things, it do not fall without a physical body. From the perspective of "Wen", ZaWen can refers to all articles except the Confucian classics, historical records, philosophical writings, but also refers to the prose which is contrary to the poetry, sometimes also specifically refers to the classical prose in Tang and Song dynasties which is opposite to the parallel prose. In a word, ZaWen is ambiguous and not fixed, the genre constantly changes with the times. On the whole, The ZaWen generally follows the development evolution from the all articles to a special style.The ZaWen first appeared in the scholar biography of the HouHanShu, which was appeared in the end of personage’s works. LiuXie divided the ZaWen into DuiWen, Qi-style and LianZhu in Wenxin Diaolong, and the three were detailed and systematic research, which was demonstrative and significantin in the history of the development of the ZaWen. Therefore, this paper was based on the review of previous researches in ZaWen-style, DuiWen, Qi-style, LianZhu and the related stylistic theory, mainly using the theory of the understand by heart, history analysis and comparative study, researching on the ZaWen of WenXinDiaoLong and many involved problems.This paper is divided into four parts. The main contents of the first part discusses the classification of the ZaWen in WenXinDiaoLong. In the view of LiuXie, ZaWen includes DuiWen, Qi-style and LianZhu. According to Liu Xie’s classification, this part is respectively researching on three styles’origin, stylistic, and the relationship of its similar styles. Although the classification of ZaWen comes from WenXinDiaoLong. However, the part is not limited in the text of WenXinDiaoLong, but to conduct a comprehensive and systematic examination to DuiWen, Qi-style and LianZhu, which lays the foundation for the study of the ZaWen of WenXinDiaoLong.The second part centres on the ZaWen of WenXinDiaoLong.This part analyses the special status of ZaWen in the Style theory of WenXinDiaoLong, which generalizes Liu Xie’s attitude to ZaWen -- ZaWens is a branch of the Orthodox article, which is writing in leisure and entertainment.It is a summary of the rhyme article which is difficult to be a independent category.It is mainly including DuiWen, Qi-style and LianZhu. Then from the the ZaWen of WenXinDiaoLong,we can peep out Liu Xie’s literature concept——the worship of Confucianism and the pursuit of literary innovation.Finally, this part concludes the impact with on future generations of Liu Xie’s attitude to ZaWens from the definition, classification and the modern essays.The third part mainly analyzes the possible reasons of the classifiction of the ZaWen in WenXinDiaoLong. Why Liu Xie will include DuiWen, Qi-style and LianZhu in ZaWen? First of all, from the theoretical perspective, on the one hand, the uniqueness of the text makes the style cross with each other. On the other hand, the constant changes of the text makes the style difficult to fix. The uniqueness of the text contradicted the generality of the style from the beginning.The balanced and compromising classifiction of DuiWen, Qi-style and LianZhu reflects the paradox of style and text.Secondly, the classifiction of the ZaWen absorbed HanShu, HouHanShu, Fu Xuan’s the Preface of Qi-style, the Preface of LianZhu, Yu Zhi’s WenZhangLiuBie and other previous generation Chronicles, Collections and Aesthetics from the name of style, stylistic classification, criticized aspects of style, the main idea in varying degrees. Thirdly, Divided ZaWen into DuiWen, Qi-style and LianZhu is a result of literary consciousness and style subdivision, and these three kinds of style is still in the emerging style development, so they are involved in ZaWen by Liu Xie; Finally,LiuXie found the three defective more or less from his Confucianism worship, which also indirectly affect the classification of the ZaWen.The fourth part compare relevant content of Wenxuan to the ZaWen of WenXinDiaoLong. Researching on the difference of two books from classification and selection and discussion of the literary style, analyzing the reason of the difference,namely the literary mind WenXinDiaoLong takes the educational function of Confucianism as the primary standard,Wenxuan based on the purification of literature and the aesthetic appreciation of literature;Wenxindiaolong focus on the theory, WenXuan lays emphasis on articles.In the study of WenXinDiaoLong, the research of stylistic theory lags behind, and,the ZaWen has a complex connotation which is difficult to define as a style-to-be,so the research on ZaWen is seldom. The value of this research is to eliminate ZaWen including the origin and development of to DuiWen, Qi-style and LianZhu, the stylistic features and the summary of Liu Xie’s view of literary and a analysis of why Liu Xie classify in that way. The study of the ZaWen of WenXinDiaoLong is good for analysing the development and evolution process of ZaWen. It’s significant to fully grasp Liu Xie’s view of ZaWen and the literary and compare WenXuan to WenXinDiaoLong.It’s also meaningful to thoroughly understand the stylistic classification of Han, Wei, Jin, southern and Northern Dynasties and its influence on later generations and the development of the whole stylistic.
