| A large number of foreign children’s literary works have been introduced to China in recent years, and more and more scholars pay attention to the translation study on excellent foreign children’s literary works. The present translation is an exploration in this regard. The source text of the translation practice is The Mummy’s Curse by Catherine Chambers. Some cases are chosen from the translation of this book to discuss how to employ text typology in the translation of children’s literature, and how to combine the features of children’s literature with the theory by using different methods to translate various types of texts in order to reach the goal that the translated text reproduces the vivid description, various knowledge and operative instructions of the source text.Based on features of the source text and linguistic features of The Mummy’s Curse, the report mainly analyzes how to reproduce expressive, informative and operative functions of the source text in the translation. The reproduction of the expressive function is achieved through reproducing the images of the characters and artistic charm of the source text, and the diction in the translation is made concise, colloquial and vivid out of the consideration of the source text and children’s acceptance habit. In addition, the source text covers texts that are not common in children’s literature, involving informative and operative texts. Different translation methods appropriate to different functions of the texts are adopted so that the translation can keep the features of the source text, meet children’s reading habits and convey the knowledge and instructive significance of the source text. |
