"Jiang Wen phenomenon " is a kind of cultural phenomenon principally focusing on the subjects in the movies by Jiang Wen. This is a unique scenery in the field of Chinese modern films. As a creative filmmaker, Jiang Wen not only generates greatly controversial influence resulting from his distinctively personalized tastes in art, but is also respected by individuals due to his consistent persistence of the principle of self-discipline in art. Therefore, the core power of "Jiang Wen phenomenon" is his insistence and creativity in art. However, the artistic and humanistic spirits in the course of "Jiang Wen phenomenon" are faced with the cirsis of "being absented" in the era of movies amusement. Under such a risky situation, the value of autonomy and creativity of filmmakers in the area of "Jiang Wen phenomenon " has been re-confirmed in this thesis with the hope of providing certain enlightenment for the sustainable development of Chinese filmdom at present.In order to explore the core power, formative factors and relevant values of "Jiang Wen phenomenon " from an overall prospective, the tentative study in this thesis goes as the followings:Firstly, this paper illustrated that the motivity resulting in the appearance of "Jiang Wen phenomenon " comes from the creative and autonomous ability of specific film creation by Jiang Wen, which turns out to be Jiang Wen’s ability of the exhibition of bodily performance, his director’s exclusive creation of thinking as well as his ability of the leadership of scriptwriter. All of these abilities have become the labels of Jiang Wen shown outside by the film texts.Secondly, the external power leading to the appearance of "Jiang Wen phenomenon" was also discussed in this paper. On one hand, the constant revolution of film production system provides Jiang Wen with the freedom of creating movies independently. On another hand, the transformative modes of movies transmission render the means of circulation of Jiang Wen and his movies various. Moreover, the evolution of aesthetic culture influences the styles of movies by Jiang Wen. All of these above consist of the external factors resulting in this film culture phenomenon.Ultimately, Jiang Wen’s strategies of being survival in the area of movies creation were generalized from the perspectives of both philosophy and sociology, which could be concluded like:the "survival aesthetics" of Jiang Wen’s personalized creation space was acquired thanks to his symbolic value which helps him mobilize various resources in the field of movies. All of these practical intelligences were apparently reflected in the course of Jiang Wen’s boundary crossing of different filmmakers. Consequently, Jiang Wen’s success can be referential to Chinese new-born filmmakers in the process of growth.
