The Modernity Thinking Of Heidegger

Heidegger’s modernity thinking is concentrated on the critique of metaphysics, in his critical analysis to the metaphysics, human rationality is a kind of self-positiveness of subjectivity, and the value nihilism destiny of modern humanity is the result of the predominate role of technology which extended as “Social Totality” and “Historical Totality”. Subjective metaphysics constitue the essence of modernity which show up as the phenomenon of “man becomes the subject” and the phenomenon of “the world becomes picture”. The technology of modernity and metaphysics, in essence, have a common origion. In modern times, the technology gradually developed into the uttermost possibilities and copletely seperated from metaphysics, Heidegger called this phenonmenon “the end of philosophy”. Science and technology is the most basic features in the present age, for it not only improve people’s quality of life, but also make the concept of omnipotent science and technologism mind penetrated into public feeling, but it also brings the risk of science and technology. As Erich Fromm says, if 19 th century issue was that God was dead, the issue in 20 th century was that man was dead. Along with the increasing progress of science and technology, the theory of God have been replaced by humanism. However, the technology has violated the original purpose of humanism in finally. The essence of modern technology is the “Gestell”, “Gestell” controls matter and imprisons human being, that challenging gathers man into ordering, this gathering concentrates man upon ordering the actual as standing-reserve. As the consequence, human being is determined by the object thinking mode of representation which lead the forgetfulness to Being. Faced with the crisis that caused by metaphysics and technology, Heidegger go to the road to “Ereignis-Denken”, which is the quadripartite structures of the world ——heaven、earth、god and man. In this quadripartite structures of the world, subjective metaphysics and technological activities should be overcome or transcended, man become onlooker of Being and lives poetically on the land.
