| Locality noun is a special category in modern Chinese word; It carries complex grammar attributes and ideographic function, in addition with rich knowledge. In Teaching Chinese as a second language, Vocabulary teaching is barely studied profoundly, especially the cultural orientation of locality noun teaching, which is also the motivation of this article.By concluding the results of previous research in this area, in language and culture, applied linguistics, intercultural communication, second language acquisition theory and other scientific research, the writer is trying to analyzing the culture of the locality noun and then put forward some effective teaching strategies and suggestions.Firstly, describe the culture meaning of the locality noun in Chinese and its meaning in English, to compare their two cultures differences. Secondly, with the foundation of the relevant authority Dictionary and Corpus, analysis the words consist with “up†and “down†in Chinese, and at the same time compare these with the words in English. Summarized the national customs feudal hierarchy, ethnic and other differences, and give conclusion of the reason why there exist differences between English and Chinese on locality noun. Verify the mindset,learning strategies, not appropriate learning materials and target language overgeneralization is the main reason that influence learners.At the last, the paper put forward that the teacher should involve cultural integration principle with the second language teaching. Combine the traditional teaching and new organic classroom teaching together, using diversity methods to inspire student’s interest and enthusiasm, to build a new open classroom. |
