As the major part of the teaching of Chinese as a Foreign language, Chinese character teaching not only throughout all stages of the teaching of Chinese as a Foreign language, but also affect students’ enthusiasm for learning Chinese. In the process of learning Chinese character, the main problem is that the Chinese character teaching is unefficient, and the low mood of learning character. Thus, how to teach Chinese characters and improve its teaching efficiency according to students’ learning features, difficulties and needs is the most important issue. In this paper, the author make a study about the students learning situations and Chinese characters teaching of the level-1 class by questionnaires and written records in International Education College of Lanzhou University of Technology. What’s more, all of these study data are analyzed with the help of author’s actual teaching experience, and some strategies and suggestions are proposed finally.This paper expands research work from the following three aspects:The first aspect is the research about the current situation of Chinese Characters’ teaching, and mainly focus on the characters. The second one relates to students in International Education College of Lanzhou University of Technology and the actual Chinese Charaters’ class they have had, questioning and record are the mainly way the author used in this part. And the final part are combined by strategies and suggestions.Finally is the conclusion that summarizes the full text of the article and make a reflection.
