Rural Ritual Changes Research Since 1949

Ritual is an ancient and universal social and cultural phenomenon presented in human development,which has been an important research field of anthropology and ethnology for a long time. It usually exists as a community or ethnic group living conditions and survival logic rallying point.It is an important way for the individual to get the social norms cognition.It is also one of the forms of social and cultural performances.As a time-honored traditional village,Houxi has various forms of rituals.With the development of society,rural social life has been a great impact of industrialization and urbanization.As a result,traditional ritual also has undergone great changes, and the values of the people there which reflected in the ritual have been great changes,too.Therefore, I intend to start from the traditional village ritual to explore the changes in people’s values and ideas which reflected in ritual change process,through the study of traditional rituals and its changing process.The article consists of five parts.The first part is an introduction mainly introducing the origin of the topic, clearing the related concepts in the study and introducing the current situation and research methods of this research.The second part is the main body.It consists of five chapters.The first chapter mainly describes the overview of my fieldwork site from the nature,geography and the social life in Houxi.The second chapter mainly introduces the traditional rituals of Houxi,around the wedding,funeral and the sacrificial ceremony.And summarizes the characteristics of this period rituals.The third chapter is mainly to generalize the situation of the ritual changes of Houxi, around the rituals mentioned above.At the meanwhile,And summarizes the characteristics of the ritual changing course.The forth chapter is mainly to analyze the changes in people’s values,by exploring the relationship between the ontological value and the social value. The fifth chapter mainly discusses the reasons of ritual vicissitude and changes of people’s values,and the problems they resulted in.The author thinksthat the unequal between the ontological value and the social value,too much emphasis on the social value and the ignoring the ontological value raise the problems together.We should guide people to strengthen the ontological value to solve the problem.The last chapter is the discussion.
