| The Catholic religious orders come in a throng along with the unfreezing of the policy of church-ban step by step in late Qing dynasty. The Catholic Church still insists on the use of Catholic books in Chinese to promote the spread of Catholicism. As the printing houses which affiliate with the Catholic religious orders develop and grow stronger, many Catholic books in Chinese have emerged. The book not only is a literal carrier to record the author’s mind faithfully, but also reflects the impact of social environmental changes on the creation of the Catholic books in Chinese in late Qing dynasty. This dissertation is aimed to study the Catholic books in Chinese and discusses the development of Catholicism in the late Qing dynasty.It starts with the introduction of the overseas and domestic research status of the Catholic books in Chinese. Chapter II systematically investigates the version problems of republished books. By comparing the different versions of Jiao Yao Xu Lun, you can find that the publisher that may adjust the content with the development of the times plays an important role in the process of republishing. Chapter III and chapter IV mainly intend to introduce the Catholic books in Chinese which are written in the late Qing dynasty. By analyzing the Catholic books in Chinese which have been created specifically for the missionaries, this essay is on the purpose to give a further understanding of the development of the Catholic books in Chinese in the late Qing dynasty. |
