At the end of1960s, a group of Asian American community activists and college activists,under the influence of African American Civil Rights Movement, started a collective politicalaction in order to fight against the remnants of racial discrimination and struggle for equal rightsthat Asian American be entitled to. The Chinese for Affirmative Action in San Francisco was setup during this Asian American Movement. It is a grassroots political organization committed tofighting for equal rights, promoting social change for Chinese (Asian)Americans. It has played asignificant role in struggling for Chinese American’s rights and interests as well as improvingtheir awareness of equity of civil rights.So far, There is few monograph equity research onChinese for Affirmative Action. Based on the Newsletter, Annual Reports and Research Reportsby CAA, combined with reports on the English-language media and related civil rights issues ofAsian America, this paper will study and analyze in much detail from severalperspective.Through the case study of CAA, this paper tries to show the new image of ChineseAmerican against injustice. The paper will first analyze the founding background of CAA, thenfocus on analyzing how CAA adopt multiple strategies to struggle for the equal rights forChinese (Asian) American, then evaluate its great achievements and contributions, and predictits future development.It has a great effect on promoting and improving their awareness of equityof civil rights.It has a favorable prospect of development because of its diversified strategycombined with grassroots work.
