Assistance For Homeless Minors

Problems of homeless minors are common social problems in all nations. The governments and social scholars over the world pay more and more attention to the problems of homelessness minors, because of the increased number of homeless minors, the deterioration of the environment, and the frequent crime of homeless minors. Homeless minors assistance is also an important part of social assistance in China. Solving the problems of homeless minors assistance on management, which concerns the development of minor groups in our country and social stability, is of great significance to the development of the society.In recent years, research on problems of homeless minors in China started to introduce the mechanism of social work, which used spiritual and psychological assistance instead of material assistance. At present, our country has achieved some success on assistance for homeless minors, and the academic circles have made many research findings. But most of them are generalized or summarized type of discussion, lacking detailed description of the specific problems in the assistance process. Their countermeasures are mainly focused on the macro or the medium level, which are not conducive to carry out specific work on assistance. In this paper, the author described the specific problems in the process of providing assistance to homeless minors at the assistance station, through the specific social work service which the author carried out in assistance stations and observed. The purpose of this research is to point out the detailed problems in the assistance process and improve the homeless minors treatment by carrying out social work service at assistance station. It is also to provide some reference for the improvement and research of assistance work.In this paper, there are two differences compared with other studies. First, pointing out the specific problems in the assistance work at the assistance station. It can provide supplements to other research, which is different from other researchers’ generalized discussions or summaries. Second, it is different from other occasions to carry out social work service at assistance station. Although some social work theories, ehics and methods were given up to a certain extent when carrying out social work services at assitance station, it finally achieved very good results. The research indicates that the professional social work which imported from foreign lands need to be localized with humanistic concerns.
