Study On The People Action Party Of Singapore Dealing With The Relationship Between Party And Society

Singapore has changed from the third world country that is poor and weak to the developed country which is wealthy and strong in just a few years. One important reason of the change is that People’s Action Party of Singapore have dealt the relationship with society. On the one hand, PAP lead people to build society and unite social force in rich atmosphere. On the other hand, in the case of Singapore’s socio-political changes in the ecological environment, PAP actively respond to the aspirations of society and ensured the people for their own confidence. In the process of interaction with society, People’s Action Party of Singapore achieved the interactivity development between the party and society. This mutual respect and equal relation both meet the demands of the people and enhance their own capacity in managing state affairs. In addition, it expands the legitimacy of the ruling People’s Action Party, and enhances the people for the People’s Action Party’s social identity.The ultimate goal of this paper is "treatment", so the thesis makes the parliamentary elections of Singapore in 2006 as a node. At the first, it makes summary of the experiences about People’s Action Party of Singapore handling relationships between party and society. Then it explains the new challenges the People’s Action Party meets in the process of dealing with relationships, and the corresponding self-adjustment, under the context of the Singapore’s socio-political environment is changing. This paper is divided into six parts, the main contents are as follows.Chapter one is introduction. The first chapter introduces the research background and significance of this paper.Then is the study of the status quo, it including "party social relations theory" and the "People’s Action Party of Singapore processing’party social relations". After that is the research ideas and method, and finally explains at innovation and shortcomings of this paper.The second chapter is the basic theory of party social relations. First, it introduces the concept of "community", "party agency relationship" and "political," and divides thecurrent "party relations agency" model, and then makes a conclusion that "interactivity" of the party is the social relationship between the two ideal interactive mode.The third chapter is the basic experience of People’s Action Party of Singapore in handling the relations between party and society. Throughout Singapore’s parliament election vote situation during the 1991-2011, we make 2006 as a node. This chapter is to make a summary of the basic approach to deal with the relationship between party and society. It points out that the PAP makes the People’s Action Party "embedded" into the social fabric, from the ideological, organizational, institutional level to lead the community firmly.The fourth chapter is the new challenges faced by Singapore People’s Action Party as the result of the changes of political environment.In 2006 Singapore parliamentary election,the PAP votes plunged.Especially in 2011 the PAP votes felled to a record low.So it had been described as "the watershed of Singapore politics".It means that the social political environment has changed.So in this chapter,we describe the challenges faced by PAP in the New Normal political ecology.The fifth chapter is the adjustment of Singapore People’s Action Party under the background of new challenges.The PAP accumulated the rich governance experience since 1959.Facing the new challenge,the PAP make change and take self-adjustment initiatively to make sure the development of society in its leadership scope.The sixth chapter is conclusion.By surveying the basic approachs,we can find that under the guidance of "Good Governance",the PAP have a interaction process with society which meaning "reciprocity ". But as the representative of "the Party Oriented",the PAP show a trend of "superior position"in the two-way interaction process.Another feature is the progressive development,and it can make sure the development of social democratic in a controllability.
