In the early 1980s, the implementation of "One Child per Couple" policy had been a fundamental policy of China. Under the guidance of policy, the tendency of the population explosion has been controlled effectually. With more than 30 years’ transition the earliest children grown under this policy have become adults. More of them build new one-child families, which means both couples are the only child for their parents. The amount of one-child families has increased and formed a big scale, especially in the cities of China. With the population aging coming ahead of our expectation in China, the one-child couples have to face with serious problems of supporting elders. On the one hand,4 and above old parents need to be supported from the couples after they cannot take care of themselves. One the other hand, one-child couples need to plan and support their rest life after retirement. It’s very necessary for one-child couples to prepare extra pension by family financial planning and management under the facts of the intrinsic defects in elderly security system and country’s huge elderly funding deficit.This paper is to research the status of family financial planning and management for the elderly supporting in urban one-child families by choosing the samples from Shanghai, to understand these couples’ attitude to the family financial planning and management and elderly supporting problems exist in their families, so as to find out the suitable way to make a good financial planning and management in elderly supporting. Meanwhile, to make suggestions that the whole society and whole country need to work together to help and solve the elderly problem for one-child families.
