Entering the 21st century, the demand for education of human society is increasing, which no doubt will put forward higher request of education quality, and the education quality is essentially the quality of teacher. Therefore, improving teachers’professional quality and promoting teachers’professional development are the key research topics at civil and abroad.The high school biology education, as the cornerstone of the life science superstructure, such as immune, genetic, ecological,fermentation, pharmaceutical, medical and so on, is at a very important and unassailable position. And whether this cornerstone is firm or not can directly affect the steady degrees and height of the specialized theory knowledge building. Meanwhile, middle school biology science also has its special and important role as a foundation course for improving citizens’scientific quality. Therefore, how to improve biology teachers’professional accomplishment and build biology teachers team with comprehensive knowledge, excellent skills and enterprising spirit, is undoubtedly a problem to the solved urgently during the reform and development of middle school education.This paper was put forward in this background, and focused mainly on solving the following two core problems:one is that in the new curriculum background of high school,what are the specific professional quality requirements on biology teacher? The second is to analysis and investigate the status of high school biology teachers’ professional quality in Hubei area and Guangdong area, draw the conclusion and then educe some revelations.The research methods used in this paper include Literature research method, questionnaires, interview survey method, comparative analysis and so on.The thesis mainly consists of five parts as follows.The first part is the introduction, in which the problems and the objective of the subject selection are put forward, and the significance research at civil and abroad are also reviewed.The second part is an overview of high school biology teachers’professional quality, and is the main theoretical basis of this paper. The high school biology teachers’ professional quality is constructed from three dimensions:knowledge, ability and the affection, based on the literature research.The third part is the research design and the methods, in which the detailed implementation procedure of this study is described:Firstly, the content and framework of the questionnaire was designed based on the literature research and teacher interview. And then pre-research was carried out and the questionnaire was modified accordingly. Finally, the main research methods and steps of this study were illustrated specifically.The fourth part is the questionnaire investigation and analysis, the core content of this paper. In order to ensure the objectivity and reliability of survey, the questionnaires were dropped through the random sampling in the middle school of Hubei area and Guangdong area. Then, the data were collected to be analyzed and discussed.The fifth part is the conclusion, enlightenment and Suggestions of this research. According to the survey results, the main conclusion was obtained, and some advices and envisages on biological teachers’professional development and direction to be investigated sequentially were also puts forward.
