High school ideological and political course is for high school students’ideological and political education, and is the main channel for high school students’moral education. High school is a critical period for the development of the overallquality of high school students, so ideological and political course plays an importantrole for the training of the students’ ideological and moral qualities, politicalquality,world outlook, outlook on life, value, and the way of thinking. But for theimpact of falling behind in teaching contents and teaching methods of currentideological and political course and the complex outside environment, to a certainextent, it weakens the moral function of the ideological and political course. Therefore,further analyzing the current situation of high school ideological and political course,and exploring new ways to improve the moral function of high school ideological andpolitical course become a very important task.Based on the full study on the results of the existing theories, I think and analyzeit from the micro and macro dimensions. Firstly, for the theoretical groundwork of thepaper, I analyzed the moral function of high school ideological and political coursefrom three aspects:developing students’ moral quality,improving their political qualityand enhancing them to form correct world outlook, outlook on life,value and ways ofthinking. Secondly, I analyzed the current situation of high school ideological andpolitical course from four aspects: high school ideological and political courseweakens the training of students’ moral quality; in the process of teaching, teacherspay more attention to theories rather than train their world outlook, outlook on lifeand value; there are strong smells of didactic teaching methods and single ways inteaching methods; teachers ignore the moral education outside the classroom. Finally,I find out the causes that make the moral function weak; on one hand, because themoral content is not comprehensive,its operability is poor, there is a big loophole ofthe implement of moral goals;the moral sense of teachers is weaken; the teachingmethods are to be updated etc;there are the internal causes; on the other hand, schoolsdo not pay attention to the functions of ideological and political course and thecomplex and changeable moral environment, which restrict the expressing of moralfunctions;there are the external reasons.Concluding from the status and the reasons analyzed above, the author putforwarded the path of fully giving play to the moral functions of high schoolideological and political course from the combination of micro and macro angle,specifically including adhere to people first; explicit the moral goals of ideologicaland political course; actively take advantage of the new curriculum reform results,toprovide conditions for the expressing of the moral functions of the ideological andpolitical course;improve the ideological and political teachers’ professionalism andmoral qualities; highlighting the epochal character and life,combine the theory andpractice as well as reform and optimize the classroom teaching of ideological andpolitical course,enhance the effectiveness of moral education.
