Nowadays, the offensive tactics of high-level man’s volleyballmainly embody in four ways, which are the fast and power attack, fastbreak, screened quick spike and space attack, respectively. It is good forfinding our weaknesses, making best of advantages and bypassing thedisadvantages to summarize our own tactics’ features and develop ownroadmap, through observation and research of worldwide high-levelman’s volleyball teams. This paper will use different kinds of researchmethods, which are literature, statistics, video and so on. The resultshows that in terms of storm attack tactics, the average spike of firstattack tactics of Russia are27times and17kills, Brazil (33times,15kills), Italy (26times,13kills) and Bulgaria (16times,9kills).Moreover, the average successful storm attack rate of Russia (player No.4,10times&18.8%; player No.2,9times&16.9%; player No.1,5times&9%; player No.5,3times&5%) is higher than the other threehigh-level teams. Hereinbefore, it shows that in terms of quantities ofstorm attack, Russia is obviously more than the other three, which reflectthat Russia constantly keeps their high spike from high set and aggressiveattack offensive style. From these four teams’ power attack tactics (firstattack plus preventing counterattack), the average number of spike is41.8times, which scores and success rate are21.6and51.67%. Even thoughboth the number of spike and scoring are the most, the success rate is notthe highest. Therefore, the above shows that the power attack is themost effective and frequent way of four offensive methods for high-levelman’s volleyball, which the ace attacker irreplaceable in the team.According to the average of first attack of fast break tactic, Brazil (18 times,11kills), Russia (7times,5kills), and Italy (10times,5kills),which is similar with Bulgaria. Through the statistics and game videorecords, the level of fast attack of Brazil is higher than the other threeteams. And its total average number of spiking is13.6times, comparedwith the other three offensive tactics (power attack/41.8times, screenedquick spike/13.4times, multidimensional attack/8times), its success rate(70.85%) is the highest of four. It is because that the four teams oftenfirst use fast attack or screened quick spike, which is effective and hard todefend, when the first pass is good. Furthermore, from the averagenumber of screened quick spike, Brazil is21times/12kills, Russia is12times/6kills, Italy is13times/8kills, and Bulgaria is10times/7kills.Based on above figures and game video records, the screened quick spikeof Brazil is better than the others, which demonstrates that Brazilconstantly keep the effectiveness of second attacker in both sides ofoffence and defense and the importance of team’s strategic attack.Especially in the3o’clock attack of front row, Brazil will have more andbetter choices by using screened quick spike. Finally, compared withthe other three tactics, there is less number of multidimensional attacks(Brazil, average11times, Russia, average8times, Bulgaria and Italy,average2times). while this attack’s total number of spike is least of theoffensive tactics. In other words, it is necessary for multidimensionalattack to have a good first pass, and the winner and runner-up teams(Brazil and Russia) are famous for their excellent first pass, fromcounterattack to organizing attack and multiple attack points. All in all,the offensive tactics of current world high-level man’s volleyball isdeveloping in diverse directions, which focus on the height combinedwith speed, storm attack combined with fast break, power plus techniques, and breadth plus depth.
