Gagne thought the highest level of intellectual skill is solving problems. He thoughtproblem solving learning is a kind of "advanced rules" study. Problem solving teaching is theeffective ways to cultivate students’ ability of solving problems, also an important content ofteaching. High school physics curriculum standard requires students learning the ScientificMethod of Inquiry, developing the autonomous learning ability, forming good habits ofthinking, and using physical knowledge and scientific inquiry method to solve someproblems. The Knowledge of Effective Problem solving teaching which physics teachershave is Pedagogical content Knowledge in Problem solving. It is a part of PCK, so itshorthand for PCK-P. Problem solving teaching knowledge is a kind of knowledge whichunder the specific physical subject and the question. It is in allusion to the students’ problemsolving preconception and psychological. It aims at promoting students’ active, reasonable orcreative solution to the problem physical by means of adjusting and organizing the physicalproblem solving knowledge. The development of physics teachers PCK-P, directly affectsthe effect of physics problem solving teaching. In search of the problems of physics problemsolving teaching in Haikou high school and finding strategies to improve teachers’ PCK-P,this paper states two aspects of study.The first part is about the connotation and dimension of PCK-P. We use literatureresearch and expert investigation method to understand its connotation and dimension. Thesecond part is about the present PCK-P situation of physics teachers in Haikou city. Weadopt the method of classroom observation and teacher interviews.We found that PCK-P including six dimensions: the knowledge of physical problemsolving teaching goal; the knowledge of the students’ physics problem solving; the solvingstrategy of physical problem; the knowledge of choosing the physics problem solvingteaching content; the knowledge of the physics problem solving teaching strategy; theknowledge of physics problem solving teaching evaluation.We found that some problems existing through the research: problem solving teachingfocusing on students’ ability to solve exercise, ignore students’ emotion and experience tosolve problem; know less about the situation of students’ problem solving, lack of the psychological knowledge of high school students problem solving; the imperfection of thephysics problem solving strategy knowledge, focusing on specific physical exercise solvingmethods; problem source is relatively fixed, content selection experience-based andsimplified; do not take the students’ autonomy, teaching break away from the student actual;the evaluation method is single, focus on evaluation the results.Based on the above research conclusion,the strategy of construct the PCK-P by physicsteachers: rebuild their problem solving teaching concept, strengthen the PCK-P coursetraining and instructional research activity, create the growing environment of PCK-P, andcreate a community of problem solving.
