After the successfully held of the29th Summer Olympic Game in Beijing,2008, former statepresident Hu Jintao delivered the important mobilization order that our country shall stride forward a worldsports power from a major sports country, which pointed out the development direction and the wayforward for sports of the new era. And the shift needs a vigorous generalization of mass sports, increasingthe group of people of sports, initiating loved sports activities, promoting the process of sports for allChinese.Honored as the “national ball sports”, table tennis not only gives China the leading position in the field,but also be loved widely among both the young and old, say, an extensive mass base. Zhengzhou is thecapital city of the most populous province, having nurtured world class table tennis players such as DengYaping and Tie Yana. As sports star effect deeply influences the city, hence there is a great mass base. Theresearch on the development of amateur table tennis clubs in Zhengzhou has the aim of understanding thecondition of mass table tennis in urban area, optimizing the management system, and the development ofmass based table tennis sports is further better promoted in Zhengzhou.By documentary method, questionnaire, mathematical statistics and logical analyzing, the paperstudied the condition and competition had been held of amateur table tennis clubs in Zhengzhou urban area,and put forward solutions and suggestions to its development, which manifests:1. There are mainly two forms of amateur table tennis clubs, as clubs based on gymnasium andclubs based on network platform.2. There is distribution imbalance of the clubs, most of which locates in downtown, andcomparatively less are located in remote area such as Shangjie District and Huiji District.3. The recent years’ increasing price level led to a decrease number of table tennis gymnasium,which influenced the enlargement of clubs. However, online registered clubs are developing and growingstronger, which brings about new issue of club management.4. Capital source of clubs is single. The charging of clubs for their members is unsatisfying. Andphysical trainings are not organized frequently enough. These factors have influence on the enthusiasm of members, which then influence the number of table tennis players in Zhengzhou.5. For physical fitness, entertainment, make friends and other motives, Zhengzhou city amateurtennis club with members from all walks of life.6. Amateur Table Tennis Club in Zhengzhou City, the number of part-time is far greater than thenumber of full-time coaches coach, and the coach’s salary problem is affecting the degree of enthusiasm forthe work of the coach.7. Most of the competitions held internally of credits, with the form of team rivalry. Competitions oflarge scale in the city are few, and fewer for provincial and national games. Especially, some of the clubsdon’t have China TT credit, which means they have no connection with CTTA. And that’s disadvantageousin communicating and competing with neighbor provinces.
