This dissertation is the comparative study of female career transition between two age groups:25-44and45-65. The study uses interview method to collect first-hand career transition stories as raw materials and the interviewees respectively include12females aged25-44and12females aged45-65. The special qualitative data analysis software Nvivo8is used to analyse a large number of data and get research conclusion.The dissertation mainly encompasses four problems:the background of the career transition, career trajectory, the influence factors of female career transition, the characteristics of the female career transition. To thoroughly analyze the female career transition, it is necessary to analyse the background of their life, including the macroscopic economic development situation, the employment system, economic system, degree of education and so on. The analysis about the female career transition process is to describe their career trajectory which is good for recognizing their own career development path and making a more reasonable career choice. The influence factors of female career transition are the focus of this study, which is analysed by the two dimensions including external objective factors and internal individual factors. Finally, the characteristics of the female career transition are summarized through the analysis of the interview data.The dissertation is divided into six chapters. Chapter one is the introduction, which mainly includes the background, literature review, research programme and concept definition. Chapter two mainly introduces the information about the interview, the basic information about the female interviewees, the process and method of data analysis. Chapter three regards12females aged45-65that have experienced career transitions as interviewees, which includes the background of the career transition, career trajectory, the influence factors of female career transition, the characteristics of the female career transition. Chapter four regards12females aged25-45that have experienced career transitions as interviewees, which includes the background of the career transition, career trajectory, the influence factors of female career transition, the characteristics of the female career transition. Chapter five is based on the research conclusions of chapter three and chapter four. And then compare similarities and differences about female career transition between two age groups:25-44and45-65. Chapter six are suggestions on Chinese female career transition and career guidance in order to provide references for female career transition and career guidance. And the suggestions are made according to the research conclusions above.
