Language is the precondition for the development of thoughts. Language education plays an important role in promoting the thinking development of preschool children. Accordingly, the implementation of language education in certain period is under the instruction of language educational ideal. The evolvement and development of preschool children language educational ideal bring us rich experience, lessons and thinking. All these have had far-reaching impact on the development of preschool children language educational ideal. Despite large quantities of literature researches on the theory, activity design and implementation of preschool children language education in China, placed in the entire history of preschool children’s language education development, the study on ideal was less involved. Based on these current literature and current researches, the author hopes that this article can provide some advice and instructions for the education reform and teaching practice in kindergarten.With the help of related policies and documents, according to background and educational ideal from policies and documents, the author divide the preschool children language educational ideal into six stages:The first stage is embryonic stage. This stage begins from the end of Qing dynasty and ends in the beginning of20th Century which focuses on the inheriting tradition, imitating Japanese education and standardizing language education. The second stage is formative stage. This stage lasts from1920s to1940s and tries to learn from Europe and America and combine teaching with learning. The third stage is development stage for the penetration and fusion of the children language educational ideal. The purpose of discipline is strengthened in this stage. This stage lasts from1950s to1960s. In the fourth stage, language education plays one single role and has great political function. This stage lasts from1960s to1970s. The fifth stage reverts the focus of language education to children. The ideal of whole language is taking into shape. This stage lasts from1980s to1990s. Based on the foundation of the fifth stage, the complete and integrated preschool language educational ideal has further developed since the end of1990s. By comparing the background, language education implementation and the effects of values of these stages, this article summarizes that china’s preschool children language educational ideal has been affected by various schools of education and is closely related to the whole preschool education. Also, this kind of educational ideal is developing to be more scientific, reasonable and local. Generally speaking, there are two kinds of existing trends, which is the ideal of integrated language education and the ideal of one-side and isolated language education respectively. In summary, the preschool children educational ideal is evolving from being isolated to being open and innovative, In the end, the author does hope that the preschool children’s physical and mental development play an increasingly important role in the development of preschool language education.Also, the article gives a clear perspective on the future development of the preschool children language educational ideal and figures out that whole language should be the core of preschool children language education. On one hand, because of its integrity, authenticity and emphasis and application of artistic appreciation, the whole language education matches children’s way of thinking, on the other hand, the whole language education is more suitable for the learning of Chinese. At last, in dealing with the conflict between utilitarian objective and developmental objective, the author holds that it is important to pay emphasis on the latter on the basis of recognizing the former and to realize unity on the basis of recognizing the disparity.
