Using 2013 Men’s European Basketball Championship three-point field goal application as the research object, this study analyzed the three-point statistics in the 11 games of the 2013 Men’s European Basketball Championship including the finals, semifinals, qualifying, eight games by the research methods of literature, interviews, video observation, mathematical statistics and others. It summed up the feature of three-point application by using the concept and function of three-point as the breakthrough point and studying the players’basic conditions, three-point shooting from the eight teams in 2013 European Championship, in order to find out the characteristics of world high level basketball three-point application.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:1. Three-point shooting is one of the main ways to score for the top eight teams. There are some big players who have three-point shooting ability in the top eight teams which also has lots of three-point players who can shoot three-point in different spots. The most three-point shooting is from guards and forwards and was shot on the wing spots on both sides. The stability of the jump shot after getting the ball in moving is good.2. The application of the three-point by the top eight teams is reasonable. Each team shot three-point in different ways. The highest three-point shooting percentage was happened in the screens at the top of the arc. The option for three-point varies in different plays and regions on the court.3. Three-point field goal is the main way for the top eight teams to attack man to man defense and zone defense. The three-point shooting is used relatively few by the top eight teams in the fast break. In the set up offense, the top eight teams combined the basic offensive play, the team play and the individual action together. They mainly used two or three players’basic cooperation and supplemented by individual attack as the three-point option appeared more by teamwork than by individual attack which had a high probability.
