Facing today’s international competition increasingly fierce, excellent teacher as the ideal pursuit of teachers’ professional development, which reflects not only a kind of pursuit but also a level locate. Globally at home and abroad, research on teachers’ development stage theory is fruitful and research view is multiple in the current teacher education. However, there is a lack of the perspective of the professional to pay attention to and study professional excellent growth of teachers. Excellent teachers’ professional development characteristics are different from the impact factors of every stage, so it is also different from the stages of common teachers’ development.This paper mainly adopts the literature method and the case method, through educational thought report, video, education essays, class management diary and published books of excellent teachers in primary and secondary schools to research and analysis the characteristics of excellent teachers’ growth. This paper mainly discusses from four aspects. Firstly, reconfirm the professional growth stage of excellent teachers. Through the analysis of and reference the theory of teachers’ professional development to summarize the development tendency which is a special for excellent teachers. And this is a supplement for current teachers’ development stage. Depicting the education of excellent teacher systematically as a lifelong pursuit is with professional characteristics in line with its own position. At the same time, excellent teachers can achieve a breakthrough in the process of growing up. Secondly, refine the development stage of excellent teacher based on the last chapter and put forward the key factor of excellent teachers. Influence factors of each period are different, and were given case support or discussed. Thirdly, summarize the growth trajectory of excellent teachers to analysis the common characteristics of excellent teachers. That is lofty educational belief, rustic education care, charming of personality, loyalty sense of occupation responsibility, excellent quality of the philosophy, wealth of knowledge structure, relentless in the pursuit of lifelong learning and pioneering spirit and action. Finally, the author put forward some personality traits of excellent teachers based on the research of excellent teachers, and few or part of them have one or several characteristic. Hope that excellent teachers can advance to a higher and better more comprehensively in the unremitting development at the same time.This paper discusses the characteristics of excellent teachers from different research views. And summarize the common characteristics and personal characteristics, which lead to a theoretical level. Research on excellent teachers can not only rich the theoretical results of teachers’ education, but also can provide a blueprint and reference for the majority of primary and secondary school teachers. And it can improve the teachers’ level of primary and secondary school teachers.
