The Study On Harm And Countermeasures Of Contemporary Hedonism Thoughts On College Students

Hedonism takes the realization of personal desire as the only goal in life, advocating of being overweening and instant gratification. So Hedonism has a very bad influence to our society. It has a long history in the West and East. But as a social trend of thought, it arose in the West and is developing accompanied by the emergence and development of capitalism production mode. Especially in recent years, with the constant deepening of China’s social reform and unceasing enhancement of people’s material life level, gastronomy thought spreads rapidly and its influence continues to deepen and expand in our society.Contemporary college students are shouldering the historic task of the construction of socialist modernization. They are the hope of the country and nation. But because the contemporary college students are in adolescence, their psychology and physiology are in great change. Their world view and the outlook on life is also in a critical period of continuous formation. These lead to college students have a strong sense of instability and plasticity. As a trend of thoughts which has a strong attraction, it diffuses and spreads rapidly, inevitably having a great negative impact on the contemporary college students. And the ideological and political education is one of the effective ways to eliminate the adverse effects of hedonism, helping the students to establish a correct outlook on life and values. This thesis is divided into three parts:The first part of the thesis is the definition and the development survey of Hedonism. This part discusses the definition of pleasure, Hedonism and the ideological trend of Hedonism, and also analyzes the concepts related to Hedonism---- the difference and connection between happiness, joy, materialism, utilitarianism and hedonism. By contrast, define the nature and characteristics of Hedonism. In addition, through the analysis the original of Hedonism as well as its evolution and development in our country, grasp the law of Hedonism’s historical development, helping people have a comprehensive understanding of hedonism.The second part elaborates the effects on our colleges of contemporary Hedonism thoughts. This part is divided into two parts, the first part mainly discuses the effects on colleges of contemporary Hedonism thoughts, this negative impact is mainly reflected into four aspects. Firstly, it encourages the students’ thoughts of pleasure. Some students enjoy their easeful and luxury life too much and lack of spirits of hard work and ambition, so, they are not eager to make progress and be weak on beliefs. Secondly, it corrodes the values of youth. Some students, because of the temptation of hedonism, in the aspects of daily life, learning and job searching, have strong thoughts of utilitarian. They value the obtainment of material interests and their values are vulgar. Finally, it distorts the consumption view of youth. The consumption view with hedonism trend is against college students to form healthy consumption ethics, and only induce students to form the consumption habits of conspicuous consumption, and advance consumption, and then induces the bad moral behaviors, which is not conducive to the formation of student’s healthy personality. It has be known that pursuit of personal desire excessively only leads to the egoism trend and not care about others, collective and the state and lack of social responsibility. The second part argues the reasons why hedonism brings bad effects on colleges. The garish social atmosphere is extremely easy to cause the bad social public opinion, and also prompted some media tend to be vulgar, which social atmosphere is not conductive to the establishment of college’ correct and reasonable consumption modes; the current ideological and political education curriculums set in university is not improve, and the content of political work lacks of practice, which leads to that ideological and political education in aspect of resisting the temptation of pleasure lacks of pertinence. In addition, part of teachers cannot play a good demonstration role that restricts the development of effectiveness of ideological and political education; nowadays many parents spoil their children and neglect the cultivation of children hard work spirits, and they also have bad behaviors and habits, which easily make children breed thoughts of pleasure; college students’ subject consciousness gradually awake that encourages students to urgently pursuit of personality and self development, while their self-discipline consciousness is relatively poor and they lack of the self-control ability, which makes colleges lack of self-defense capability of hedonism.The third part mainly discusses the countermeasures to resist the negative effects of hedonism. This part respectively addresses how to eliminate the adverse effects of hedonism from four aspects of the society, colleges, families and individuals. In terms of the society, by optimizing public opinions and relying on promoting the fine tradition of thrift and work hard to purify social atmosphere can create a good social consumption environment for colleges to resist the temptation of pleasure and establish a correct consumption concept. The mass media plays an important role in spreading consumption conception and forming good social atmosphere, so we should strengthen the optimization of the mass media and bring correct guiding effects of public opinions, thus stimulating colleges produce correct consumption behaviors. In terms of universities, improving its pertinence is the top priority. It can be achieved the goal of fully exerting ideological and political education’ guiding role by strengthening the ideal and belief education for colleges, shaping colleges’ noble moral cultivation and strengthening the honesty education for teachers. In terms of families, parents firstly must pay attention to cultivate children’ spirits of work hard, in addition, parents should set examples for guiding their children to form correct consumption behaviors. In terms of individuals, students firstly learn to distinguish between truth and falsehood consciously and be scientific and rational to treat pleasure phenomena by improving their own subject consciousness. Secondly, students can use integrated methods of self cognition, self evaluation, self-regulation and reflection, and improvement self-discipline to get the purpose of strengthening the ability of self education, thus, resisting consciously the erosion of hedonism thoughts.
