The Study Of Application Of Harmonious Spirit Of Confucianism In Ideological Education In College

Harmonious education, a branch of profound Confucian education system in ancient China, gradually shows its intrinsic value in our society today. Although Confucius did not specifically raise any statement of harmonious education, all his educational idea contained a lot of content of harmonious education. The primitive religion and the original destiny thought laid a favorable foundation for the beginning of harmonious education. Under this condition, Chinese Confucian scholars founded a complete harmonious education system by continuously practice. Its purpose is not only to help people be wise by the study of Six Arts in Chinese traditional culture, i.e. Ritual,Music, Archery, Horse Riding, Calligraphy, and Math, but also to enhance people’s understanding of humanities and ethics by the education focused on ritual and benevolence. The spirit of Confucian education in Pre-Qin Period put much emphasis on the harmonious relationships of people themselves, people and people, and people and society. Its spirit becomes even more valuable in today’s society filled with various unharmonious phenomenon. However, since the society which Confucius lived in is completely different than it is today and so is his spirit, we should not imitate the spirit of Confucian education indiscriminately nor abandon it at all. Instead, we should make full use of its essence and abandon its dross. Only in this way, we can make contributions to building the harmonious Socialism society. The Original Confucianism proposed three basic tenets in formulating their ’Harmony System’. They claimed that the physical-mental consistency is benefit to individuals’ health. The Confucians also believed that tolerance could bring a more intimate and solid interpersonal relationship and eventually,promoting a more harmonious social relationship. In a broader scope, a harmonious human-nature relationship is deemed to be an essential factor of the development of nature.As the pioneer of ’harmony’ education, the Original Confucianism plays a guiding role in education. It also helps university students cultivate their ideological and political sensitivity. Integrating the ’harmony’ education into traditional ideological and political education satisfies the requirements of nowadays development.More importantly, it becomes a significant component of the current higher education.
